Water Leaders’ Round Table aims to be the initiative for high-level commitment and actions based on practical and tangible plans for resolving water problems.
Opinions were collected from 21 high-ranking officials and the ‘Water Leaders’ Action Declaration 2023’ was adopted to address humanity’s water problems.
Additionally, confirmation and discussion were conducted on 7 key implementation tasks (Focus Areas) for KIWW major topic ‘Sustainable water management for humans and nature.’ The international community reexamined the main agenda of the declaration and confirmed commitment to implementation.
The World Water Partnership is a cooperative gathering that brings together key high-level representatives from the World Water Forum host countries and the steering committee of the next WWF host country. During the WWP, countries like Morocco (1st), Netherlands (2nd), Japan (3rd), Turkey (5th), France (6th), Korea (7th), Brazil (8th), Senegal (9th) shared cases from each country and worldwide on the topic of ‘Securing Drinking Water, Sanitation and Participation in Socio-Economic Development’
World Water Cities’ Forum serves as an exclusive platform for city leaders and water experts to discuss water-related issues and solutions for each city, and to share best practices and policies related to water management.
The adoption of the World Water Cities Forum Declaration involves sharing solutions to water problems in each city through agenda discussions between mayors of representative water cities around the world and spreading a common vision through political declarations regarding these issues.
TIP Platform is designed to lead implementation based on developed polices and technologies. TIP Platform aims to promote sharing knowledge and experiences on practical solutions for global water challenges at various scales.
Six sessions (with approximately 200 domestic and international water experts from eight hosting organizations) were held to address regional and field-specific water problems across six major water-related agendas. Solutions, implementation methods, case studies were presented.
World Water Challenge is an international contest hosted by the Ministry of Environment of Korea and organized by Korea Water Forum for water solutions. As a follow up activity of the 7th World Water Forum in 2015, it has been annually held in conjunction with the Korea International Water Week (KIWW), aiming to discover imminent global water issues and to find feasible solutions to them.
The Best solution awarded was the “Recycling of wastewater to recover fresh water, reduce brine discharge and capture CO₂.”
Water Business Square is a platform where domestic and international water industry officials Come together to share various information and expand their business opportunities.

82 exhibitors presented their products, services and technologies at 156 booths. Approximately 105 business meetings, amounting to 9M KRW, were held. 33 overseas buyers were invited. A total of 145 consultations, amounting to 40M USD, were conducted. In total, 108 contracts, amounting to over 16M USD, were signed.
Water Culture and Citizen Forum is an open platform organized by NGOs and local communities to provide a venue for communication and discussion, encouraging citizens’ participation and action on water challenges. During the Water Culture and Citizen Forum, discussion on sharing cultural elements to raise awareness of water culture among citizens and to revitalize ESG in the water sector were held.
Korea Junior Water Prize, held annually since 2009, is a national competition aimed at promoting youth to develop their research abilities by proposing creative, innovative, and practical approaches to solving regional and international water problems.
Out of 31 teams 11 teams were selected through the preliminary round to the final competitions. Seven finalists were given awards including team White Oil, which won the best prize(Prime Minister of Republic of Korea’s Award) for their innovative project ‘The Invention of an Eco-friendly Demulsifier for the Removal of an Emulsion of Water-Soluble Cutting Oil. White Oil team will have the privilege of participating in the international competition (Stockholm Junior Water Prize) next year as the Korean representative.
